*Law and Order Narrator voice* The following timeline follows the lives of four boys from Australia, and their journey to stardom. Including the unbelievably long time span in which they release NO music – Causing their fans to lose their shit. This is their story.
February 3rd, 2011 – Luke Hemmings posts first solo Youtube Video covering Please Don’t Go by Mike Posner.
April 16th, 2011 – Michael Clifford and Calum Hood make their first appearance on Luke’s Youtube channel naming the trio “5 Seconds Of Summer”.
June 4th, 2011 – Luke, Michael and Calum post their first cover together, singing I Miss You by Blink 182.
December 2nd, 2011 – 5 Seconds Of Summer performs their first gig while also introducing new drummer Ashton Irwin to a total of 13 fans.
December 16th, 2011 – The band posts a video to Luke’s Youtube Channel, now called by the band’s name, and cover Teenage Dirtbag by Weatus. Officially introducing the complete group to the internet.
June 26th, 2012 – 5 Seconds Of Summer releases their first album titled “Unplugged”. Despite consisting of only two original songs and two covers, the album reached #3 on iTunes in Australia.
October, 2012 – The boys tour with Hot Chelle Rae.
November 6th, 2012 – Louis Tomlinson of One Direction Tweets “Been a fan of this band for a while, everyone get behind them” and copied a link to the boys’ Gotta Get Out video.
November 19th, 2012 – 5 Seconds Of Summer Release their first single Out Of My Limit.
November 25th, 2012 – 5SOS hosts their EP launch party at the Metro Theatre for “Somewhere New”.
November 26th, 2012 – Niall Horan, also from One Direction, tweets a link to the new
single saying, “Just been showed this video – TUNNNEEEEE”
December 7th, 2012 – 5SOS officially release their EP “Somewhere New” in Australia and New Zealand.
December, 2012 – 5SOS heads to London to write with various artists.
February 14th, 2013 – 5SOS is announced as the opening act for One Direction’s “Take Me Home” tour.
February 23rd, 2013 – The “Take Me Home” tour begins at the O2 arena in London. After the tour ends they head back to Aus to play sold out shows in every major city. And later Joined back up with 1D for their USA tour.
November 21st, 2013 – 5SOS officially signs with Capital records.
February 5th, 2014 – 5 Seconds Of Summer release their single, She Looks So Perfect, for pre-order on iTunes.
March, 2014 – She Looks So Perfect is released in the UK where it toped the charts for 1 day.
April 9th, 2014 – She Looks So Perfect debuts at No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
May 9th, 2014 – They release their second single, Don’t Stop.
June 27th, 2014 – 5SOS release their debut self titled studio album in Europe and Australia. The album hit No. 1 on the Billboard chart.
July 15th, 2014 – The boys release their third single off the album, Amnesia. This is the only song the boys have not written themselves. It was given to them by Joel and Benji Madden from Good Charlotte.
October 12th, 2014 – Their fourth single, Good Girls, is released. With the music video hitting over two million views within the first 48 hours.
December 15th, 2014 – 5 Seconds Of Summer release their first live album LiveSOS.
May, 2015 – The band embarked on their first headlining tour Rock Out With Your Socks Out, or ROWYSO. Touring in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and North America.
July 17th, 2015 – 5SOS release the first single for their second studio album, She’s Kinda Hot.
October 9th, 2015 – The second single for their upcoming album, Hey Everybody! is released. That same day they announce their 2016 tour.
October 23rd, 2015 – “Sounds Good, Feels Good” their second studio album is released.
December 17th, 2015 – Jet Black Heart music video is released, which featured a variety of fans.
February 19th, 2016 – The boys embark on their second headlining tour “Sounds Live, Feels Live”. Traveling all around the globe.
July 15th, 2016 – Girls Talk Boys is released for the film “Ghostbusters”.
January 13th, 2017 – 5SOS are featured on the song, Take What You Want. A track off of Japanese band One OK Rock’s New album.
5SOS performs at various music festivals throughout the year.
April 11th, 2017 – Drummer Ashton Irwin teases that the third album will be released before the end of the year.
January 1st, 2018 – …. Still no third album and no signs of any singles being released.
It has been a year since 5SOS was featured on a song.
A year and a half since they have released a single.
And over two years since releasing an album.
So I will ask again… Where the f*ck is my album?
